V. Minuetto from Cello Suite No. 1 by J.S. Bach for Hammered Dulcimer
V. Minuetto from Cello Suite No. 1 by J.S. Bach for Hammered Dulcimer
This is sheet music for the fifth movement from Cello Suite No. 1 by J.S. Bach arranged for hammered dulcimer.
This is an arrangement of the Minuetto, the fifth movement from Cello Suite No. 1 by J.S. Bach, arranged for hammered dulcimer.
The Minuetto is an extremely popular Baroque dance. It often is presented in pairs which are played back to back. After playing the second Minuetto, the first is revisited and played once through without the repeats. The second Mineutto requires some acrobatics as far as note placement on the instrument. While the key G Major is common on the hammered dulcimer, this Minuetto changes the key G Minor. It brings a taste of the mysterious before returning to the more cheerful feel of the first Minuetto.
The music is the same as the original only raised an octave to fit the range of the hammered dulcimer. The range of this movement is C3 to E5 and includes C3, Eb3, F3, and Bb3.
Included with this arrangement are two versions of this movement from Bach’s Cello Suite #1. One is a blank copy of the music, arranged for the hammered dulcimer, allowing you to make any notations or marks that you find helpful. The second version is the transcription of how I have chosen to play the movement. A description of the marking system I use is included.
