VI. Gigue from Cello Suite No. 1 by J.S. Bach for Hammered Dulcimer
VI. Gigue from Cello Suite No. 1 by J.S. Bach for Hammered Dulcimer
This is sheet music for the sixth movement from Cello Suite No. 1 by J.S. Bach arranged for Hammered Dulcimer.
This is an arrangement of the Gigue, the fifth movement from Cello Suite No. 1 by J.S. Bach, arranged for hammered dulcimer. The Gigue originated in England and Ireland as the Jig and became the commonplace finale in the Baroque dance suite. It is usually in a compound meter such as 3/8 or 6/8 and is lively in nature.
The music is the same as the original only raised an octave to fit the range of the hammered dulcimer. The range of this movement is D3 to E5.
Included with this arrangement are two versions of this movement from Bach’s Cello Suite #1. One is a blank copy of the music, arranged for the hammered dulcimer, allowing you to make any notations or marks that you find helpful. The second version is the transcription of how I have chosen to play the movement. A description of my marking system is included.
